Biography

Kimberly graduated from James Cook University Singapore with a Bachelor of Psychology (First Class Honours) and thereafter with a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. Her doctoral research focuses on the assessment and management of emotional dysregulation in early childhood.

Prior to pursuing her doctorate, Kimberly worked extensively with children with neurodevelopmental disorders and their families in both early intervention and special education settings. Specific conditions include Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Intellectual Disability (ID), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Global Developmental Delay (GDD), and attachment difficulties.

Kimberly practices a transdisciplinary approach to intervention and works closely with other Allied Health professionals, such as occupational therapists and speech-language pathologists, to provide psychological services that were family-focused and strengths-based. She is experienced conducting child and adolescent psychological assessments as well as providing individual and group therapy to children and teenagers with socioemotional and behavioural difficulties. She also works closely with parents to promote positive parenting behaviours and reduce caregiver stress.

Kimberly has delivered psychological intervention using a variety of psychotherapeutic modalities to clients in local hospitals, community clinics, and private practice. Kimberly is experienced in the treatment of depression, anxiety disorders, personality disorders (e.g., Borderline Personality Disorder and Narcissistic Personality Disorder), somatic symptom disorders (e.g., chronic pain and gastrointestinal disorders), dissociative disorders, and trauma.

Kimberly is passionate about working with children with emotional difficulties, such as emotional dysregulation and attachment issues, and their families as she believes that cultivating mental well-being during the formative years will have a positive impact on the rest of a child’s life. Kimberly is also passionate about working with individuals who have experienced trauma in early childhood, empowering them to heal past wounds and lead healthy, meaningful lives.

Kimberly believes in a person-centric approach to therapy and integrates aspects of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness and Schema Therapy in her professional practice.

She places a great emphasis on establishing a strong therapeutic alliance so as to provide clients with a safe space to work through their emotional difficulties. She also believes that her Eurasian heritage allows her to connect with people from different cultures and various walks of life. Born in the United Kingdom, Kimberly is familiar with both local and international school systems.

Apart from being a psychologist and researcher, Kimberly is also a mother and avid reader.
