Dr Fong Yang, an accredited Ministry of Health IVF clinician, has been practising Obstetrics and Gynaecology for the past 18 years. He received his medical degree from the National University of Singapore in 1990 and went on for further specialisation training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. Dr Fong was admitted to the Fellow of Academy of Medicine, Singapore in 2000.
He is also one of the rare few IVF clinicians who treat both male and female infertility. He was the first in Singapore to perform percutaneous sperm aspiration for men – a procedure to overcome a condition whereby sperm cannot be produced due to obstruction of the sperm ducts.
Prior to setting up his private practice in 2002, Dr Fong was a consultant at Singapore General Hospital and Changi General Hospital, where he served in the Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Andrology clinics.
Dr Fong was also active in the Centre for Assisted Reproduction in SGH and in their in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) programmes. Currently, he also performs Intra-Uterine Insemination (IUI) for women as part of their fertility treatment.
Besides male and female infertility, Dr Fong also keenly manages recurrent and early pregnancy loss or miscarriages.
Dr Fong is very passionate about his field of specialisation and often shares his expertise at local and international forums. He is also an avid contributor to numerous magazines, newspapers, and makes media appearances to educate and increase awareness of male and female fertility issues.
He is effectively bilingual in English and Mandarin, and also conversant in Hokkien and Teochew.
Dr Fong Yang currently delivers and does surgery at Mt Elizabeth Novena, Mt Alvernia Hospital and Thomson Medical Centre.
