Dr Claudia Chi is a specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (O&G) with almost 20 years of experience in the field. She obtained her medical degree from Imperial College London, UK in 2000 and completed her specialist training in O&G from the London Deanery. In the UK, she worked in several major acute teaching hospitals as well as large busy district hospitals, helping women from multicultural backgrounds with different obstetrics and gynaecological conditions. She subsequently came to Singapore in 2013, where she joined the Department of O&G at the National University Hospital (NUH).
At NUH, Dr Chi was a Consultant and Assistant Professor with several leadership roles. She was the Lead Clinician of the Delivery Suite, where she implemented the obstetric safety plan and updated clinical protocols with best evidence-based practice to promote quality of care and patient safety. She also chaired the obstetrics risk management committee and received several awards for the quality improvement projects she led.
Dr Chi was also in charge of the Obstetrics services for women with Gestational Diabetes (GDM). Her expertise in GDM led to her appointment as the Lead Discussant of the expert group, tasked by MOH’s Agency for Care Effectiveness (ACE), to craft the latest guidelines on Gestational Diabetes screening and management.
Her philosophy of practice encompasses personalised care supported by open and honest communication, respect for women’s autonomy with an emphasis on informed choice, and the prevention and management of risks through optimisation of women’s health status.
Dr Chi is fluent in English, Mandarin and conversant with Taiwanese.
